Mission Trip to the Island (La Calzada)
ROI will be partnering with Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church this summer to embark on our first mission trip to a small island off the coast of El Salvador. This vision trip will consist of a small group with the intention to establish relationships with the people and the church, gather information, and visit various homes to listen and to share the good news of Christ.
This particular island is where Lauren and Cristian Guillen have spent much of their ministry while working as missionaries with Christ For the City International. It is also the place where Cristian grew up so we have the advantage of already having connections and relationships built with the people. Life is very difficult on the island when it comes to education, jobs, and the provision of food. Exported food is costly, children are not obligated to attend class and unfortunately the education is not the greatest, and work is few and far between.
This trip is one of many more to come in partnership with Ginghamsburg as they are hoping to establish a lifelong relationship to the development of this community.
